Today, 22 December 2020 marks the 1st anniversary of the passing of Venerable Dhammavuddho Mahāthera. Nalanda pays tribute to Venerable who dedicated his life to seeking the path to Liberation and resolutely expounding on the original teachings of the Buddha to the masses.
The late Ven. Dhammavuddho was the founding abbot of Vihara Buddha Gotama and an inspiring Dhamma teacher to many monks and lay Buddhists. His legacy is of a life well-lived; persevering through formidable obstacles in order to learn the Buddha’s teachings, recording expositions on the five Nikāyas systematically, and authoring numerous Dhamma books for earnest seekers of Truth.
We can honour his life and mission by recollecting his sagacious advices throughout the years and investigating the Buddha’s teachings in order to develop wisdom and insight. With reverence and gratitude, we wish Ven. Dhammavuddho the highest blessings of Peace. May He attain the final bliss of Nibbāna.
“We definitely cannot alter what has been sown in our past, but by skilfully exercising wisdom, loving-kindness and compassion in our present actions, we can surely determine a future in line with our hopes and aspiration. We can help ourselves by sincerely embarking on this journey of transformation and with the greatest love for ourselves. For who else can help us but ourselves.”
