2004 Tsunami Remembrance Day

2004 Tsunami Remembrance Day

Nine years ago today, on 26 December 2004, a massive earthquake off Sumatra triggered a Tsunami that swept across 14 countries and killed a quarter million people.  It was among the worst natural disasters in human history.  But the aftermath of the tragedy saw an outpouring of compassion and donation, which brought out the best aspects of humanity.

Today, we remember the victims of that devastating event, and offer our thoughts and prayers to them.  We also salute all those who sacrificed their own lives to save others, and the brave rescuers who worked for weeks and months to help all those in need.  We pray that all beings be free from harm and danger; may all beings find true safety and peace.  SOTTHI.
