25th anniversary of Ajahn Chah’s passing

Venerable Ajahn Chah Subhaddo (1918 - 1992)

Nalanda pays tribute to this Dhamma teacher par excellence on the 25th anniversary of his passing.

16 January 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of Ajahn Chah’s passing.  Venerable Ajahn was one of the most revered and influential Buddhist teachers in the modern era.  He was a doyen of the “forest tradition” who attracted many Thai and foreign practitioners to be ordained under him.

Ajahn Chah led an unassuming and austere life as a true ‘bhikkhu’.  His teachings were rooted in direct experience and worded in simple language.  He was a teacher par excellence who inspired confidence and enthusiasm amongst his disciples.  Today the legacy of Ajahn Chah is continued by his able and respected disciples who established branch monasteries all over the world.

Nalanda Buddhist Society pays humble tribute to a great teacher who was a lamp of wisdom to guide a world shrouded with ignorance.  May all beings earn the blessing to be directed towards the good and the wise.
