Wesak month full-moon commemorates the Blessed One’s Enlightenment 26 centuries ago, and marks the beginning of Buddhist Year (B.E.) 2562. Nalanda will observe ‘Buddha Day’ from 26 May (Saturday) to 29 May (Tuesday) with many wholesome activities. We joyfully invite you to join us for the following programmes starting this weekend:
The ‘Buddha Jayanti’ Exhibition is one of the highlights of Nalanda’s ‘Buddha Day’ Observance. Messages of Dhamma are illustrated through interesting visual presentations by Nalanda Dhamma School teachers and students to educate the public.
The programme includes Pāli chanting, Dhamma talk by Sis. Sunanda Ong on “Life of a Humble Teacher”, Mettā meditation, and Dedication of Merits.
Enjoy a spiritual Sunday morning with meditation, offerings to the Three Jewels, Pāli chanting, and Dhamma talk by Achariya Tan Siang Chye on “Humility – the Foundation of all Virtues”. Bro. Aggaphala Yap will deliver a Mandarin talk on “谦逊 – 美德的基础”.
Do you know that a pint of blood can save up to 3 lives? Blood donation is safe, painless, simple, and noble. It is also one of the most wholesome deeds one can do. You can make a life-changing difference to others in need by just coming forward to donate blood.
This special workshop on “A Life of Humility, Modesty and Moderation” will be conducted in Mandarin by Bro. Aggaphala Yap. Interested participants should send an e-mail to info@nalanda.org.my with your name in (1) English and (2) Mandarin, and also (3) your contact numbers. Participation is free, and everyone is welcome to register.
Once a year, the Buddha Relic at Nalanda Centre is brought out from its special chamber for devotees to worship. We welcome everyone to pay the highest homage to our Great Teacher’s Relic.
Please come in appropriate dress – i.e. white tops covering both shoulders, and long pants or skirts, as this is customary when worshipping Buddha Relics. You may also sit near to the Relic pavilion in silent meditation, or reflect on the teachings of the Buddha.
Monday, 28 May | 8 pm – 10 pm
The evening programme includes offerings, Dhamma talk by Datuk Charlie Chia on “The Significance of Buddha Day”, Mettā meditation, Wesak Eve chanting, and Dedication of Merits.
With many different programmes lined-up throughout the day, we shall keep you posted soon in the next thread.
We humbly invite the whole community to join us at Nalanda for this most important day of the Buddhist calendar. All are welcome!
