Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama heads the Nalanda Education Team (NET) beginning 1 July 2014.

Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama today assumes the Chair of Nalanda Education Team (NET), a committee comprising divisional and departmental heads of Nalanda Institute, Nalanda Dharma School, Pustaka Nalanda, and Free School.  The NET is tasked with overseeing the implementation of Nalanda’s education philosophy and approach in all programmes.

Achariya Vijaya has been with Nalanda Buddhist Society since our inception as a Dhamma teacher.  In 2007, with the establishment of Nalanda Institute, he was appointed a senior lecturer in the Department of Buddhist & Pāli Studies.  In July 2010, he succeeded as the second Director of the Institute, helming it for the next 4 years (until 30 June 2014).

Achariya Vijaya brings with him tremendous experience in Buddhist and secular education.  His contribution as the Chairman of NET will be a great asset to the advancement of holistic education.  All Nalandians wish Achariya Vijaya a joyful and successful tenure as the Head of NET!
