4 October 2014 - 6 October 2014
This weekend, students of BPS402 – Higher Certificate in Buddhist Studies, will be traveling to Bujang Valley on a study visit to historical and archaeological locales there. Situated in Central Kedah, the Bujang Valley is the richest archaeological site in Malaysia. Ruins of ancient Buddhist structures dating from the 1st Century BCE, and much-later Hindu temples dating from the 10th Century CE, can be found scattered across the district.
As part of their curriculum (i.e. Module 2 – “Historical Expansion of Buddhism”), BPS402 students stand to gain better understanding and insight into the arrival of Buddhism in Malaysia some 2,000 years ago!
Joining the field trip will be Nalanda Institute’s Director, Achariya Tan Siang Chye, and several other officers. The entourage of 40 people will be partly hosted by Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch. We wish the group a safe, joyful and fruitful study tour!
