Sunday, 13 September was indeed a joyful and memorable day as Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch held its inaugural ‘Family Fun Fair’ (‘FFF’). Nalandians from the Klang Valley and Kedah arrived a day before to help in preparations and lend support to our Johor Bahru Branch members. It showcased the spirit of ‘samaggi’ (unity and concord) among members and volunteers.
A bright, sunny day greeted everyone on the morning of the event. The ‘FFF’ started with the raising of the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ and Buddhist flags accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem ‘Negaraku’ and ‘Jayamangala Gatha’ by Dhamma School facilitators and students.
About 70 stalls were set up selling a variety of food, drinks, vegetables, potted plants and merchandise. More than 2,000 people participated in the Fun Fair, many of whom visited NEO Centre Johor Bahru for the first time. Many devotees were keen to know more about the programmes held in JB. The event itself was a great success as members and volunteers mingled and worked seamlessly, sharing a common culture of community service.
We wish to thank the organisers, donors, sponsors, stall operators and visitors for supporting this fund-raising event. Your invaluable contributions will enable Nalanda to continue providing holistic education to the community. Thank you, all!
