Youths organise Dāna for venerables

Nalandian youths took the initiative to organise dāna for the venerable monks.

On Saturday 17 October, Nalandian youths organised a lunch dāna for two venerable monks from Sentul Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple who had been invited to go on Nalanda’s monthly educational ‘Pindacāra’ (alms-round) in Seri Kembangan.  Although this was the first time the youths were taking on the responsibility, they were eager to put into practice what they had learned in the Youth Centre.

Meanwhile, the first session of the ‘Fellowship Undergraduate Network’ (F.U.N.) 2015 programme was also well-timed as it gave participants, who were learning about Buddhist culture, the opportunity to join in and have first-hand knowledge of the proper way to offer dāna.  The venerables praised the youths for their initiative and urged them to continue performing wholesome deeds.

Earlier, the venerable monks had gone on alms-round where many devotees were waiting patiently to offer them food.  Pamphlets and flyers were given out by volunteers to the public, explaining the meaning of Pindacāra, and encouraging the public to participate.  We thank the venerables, volunteers, youths, and devotees for their participation in this meritorious deed.  May the merits accrued be shared with all beings. Sadhu anumodana.
