‘Buddha Day’ Morning Service
The first Service of the day takes place after dawn (at 6.45am) in the Shrine Hall on Level 1. The second Morning Service on ‘Buddha Day’ begins at 9.00am at the Dhamma Teaching Hall at Level 4. (Photograph)
The first Service on ‘Buddha Day’ takes place shortly after dawn, at around 6.45am, followed by monks going out for alms. However, the second Morning Service which begins at 9.00am is even more significant. The “Wesak Traditions” posting today highlights with programmes held on ‘Buddha Day’ from 9am to 1pm.
The ‘Buddha Day’ Dhamma talk is one of the three important teachings of the Wesak period.
It has been a tradition for several years to offer simultaneous English and Mandarin talks (seen here) at the ‘Buddha Day’ morning Service.
After the Dhamma talks, devotees congregate in the Dāna Hall to offer lunch to venerable monks. An air of peace, calmness and devotion pervaded the offering of Dāna.
Members of the public were served vegetarian meals throughout the Wesak celebration period at Nalanda Centre.
After lunch, devotees lined up to obtain blessings from Sangha members in the Shrine Hall. Guided tours of Nalanda Centre were also organised especially catering for first-time visitors.
