On Tuesday 13 December, Nalanda Centre welcomed the visit by Venerable Ajahn Kalyāno, a disciple of the late Ajahn Chah, a celebrated teacher in the Thai forest tradition. Ajahn Kalyāno is the abbot of Buddha Bodhivana Monastery in Melbourne, Australia.
It was Ajahn Kalyāno’s second visit to Nalanda Centre since 2010. This time, he was accompanied here by Venerable Kovido. Both venerables were warmly and respectfully welcomed by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan, members and devotees.
Host-officer Bro. Tong led the venerables on a tour of Nalanda Centre and also to the special exhibition on ‘Wisdom Park’. Ajahn Kalyāno was very happy to hear of the project and offered his blessings. Ajahn was later invited to give a Dhamma teaching since it was an Uposatha Day.
Before departing, Ajahn Kalyāno expressed anumodana for the good educational work that Nalanda is performing, saying that it is crucial to the preservation of true Buddhist teachings. Nalandians thanked Ajahn Kalyāno and Ven. Kovido for their kind visit and encouragement, and invited them to return to Sri Serdang soon.
