As the 14-day count down (or “calm down”) to ‘Vesakha’ Full-moon begins, members and devotees are priming Nalanda Centre to welcome the most important date in the Buddhist calendar.  In the past few weekends, many Nalandians have been cleaning and decorating the Centre for ‘Buddha Day’ (‘Vesakha’ Full-moon) celebrations, which will be held over four days from 7 May to 10 May.

This year’s celebration theme is “Buddha – Our Teacher and Refuge”.  Besides the customary Dhamma teachings and meditation sessions, the highlights of Nalanda’s observance are the Heritage Procession, and the worshipping of Buddha Relic on 10 May.  For the first time ever, the Buddha Relic at Nalanda Centre will be displayed to the public for worshipping, and will even be brought out for a mile-long procession in Sri Serdang.

We look forward to welcome thousands of devotees to Nalanda Centre and NEO Centres in Johor Bahru, Sungai Petani, and Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur to join our ‘Buddha Day’ observance.  Let us mark the anniversary of Buddha’s Enlightenment with deepened spirituality, devotion, and Right Understanding.
