Story-telling is an ancient folk-art which is still being practised in modern times. It has the power to delight, frighten, teach, inspire, and motivate listeners. Skilfully done, story-telling is a powerful tool for education.
On Sunday, 7 October 2012, with Bro. Tan’s encouragement and inspiring story, Pustaka Nalanda kick-started the first session of Story-telling Workshop. To begin with, participants were taught different techniques of enunciation, and were informed of different challenges in speech. Throughout the session, the participants were guided by Mr. Vijaya Samarawickrama, who holds an M.A. in Drama & Theatre.
Laughter filled the hall when we observed the often hilarious demonstrations by Uncle Vijaya, and watched with amusement the non-verbal communications from the participants. It was a relaxing and fun-filled learning experience for all !
