Central Sulawesi was struck by a severe earthquake, followed by aftershocks and a tsunami.

An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale and a series of powerful aftershocks that followed devastated the city of Palu in Central Sulawesi on Friday 28 September, killing more than 400 people and causing widespread damages.  The severe quake also caused a tsunami which resulted in further casualties in the area.

Please spare thoughts of loving kindness and compassion for the people of Palu.  Let us pray for the safe return of hundreds of missing persons, and the recovery of those injured by the disaster.  May those who perished rest in peace; and may their loved ones find strength and peace in spiritual refuge.

The tsunami that followed the 7.5-magnitude earthquake caused even more devastation and deaths to the people living along the coast.
