From 4 to 12 August, Nalanda members and volunteers had the priviledge of presenting ‘care bags’ and supplies to charitable homes and the needy around Klang Valley. With many fair-goers stepping forward to donate towards the ‘Care Bag’ project during the recent Nalanda Family Fun Fair 2019, we were able to choose suitable food items and provisions to help those less fortunate.
Children of Siddhartan Care Centre, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society, House of Joy, and Kim Loo Ting Welfare Centre received the colourful care bags with much excitement. When asked about their ambitions, a few children shyly replied that they aspire to be policemen or teachers, whilst some proudly shared their academic results with us.
At Kim Loo Ting Welfare Centre and Sri Jayanti Metta Care Centre, volunteers spent time chatting with the elderly folks and were warmed by their admirable qualities of contentment and gentleness in their old age. Care bags were also presented to Persatuan Kebajikan OKU Hati Berganda Selangor and Persatuan Rumah Amal Murni Kajang, to assist in the daily needs of the disabled residents.
We express our gratitude to all the kind donors of the ‘Care Bag’ project, for helping those who have been marginalised. We also thank our wonderful volunteers for ensuring the provisions reach those in need, and making the extra effort to connect with them on a personal level. Sādhu ānumodāna!
