Temporary closure of Nalanda Centres

Temporary closure of Nalanda Centres

Nalanda Centres throughout Malaysia will be temporarily closed from 18 March to 31 March 2020.

On 16 March 2020, the Prime Minister’s Office issued a directive for the temporary closure of all places of worship across Malaysia to stem the spread of Covid-19.  Thus, we would like to inform you that Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang, as well as NEO Centres in Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani will be closed temporarily from Wednesday, 18 March to Tuesday, 31 March 2020.

Situational Review

Should the situation improve after some time, and with the permission of the authorities, our centres will be reopened to the public soonest possible to continue to serve our communities.  During the interim, you may contact Nalanda Management through our e-mail at info@nalanda.org.my, or call our hotline at 03-8938-1501.

Cooperate with authorities for public safety

Meanwhile, we urge all Malaysians to cooperate fully with the authorities in this unprecedented period of restricted movement and business closures.  These strong measures are no doubt causing some degree of inconvenience, but they were taken with the purpose of ensuring public health and safety.  The authorities can manage the pandemic better if all of us cooperate fully with official directives.

Staying calm and be helpful

We should continue to remain calm, positive-minded, and helpful to one another during this critical time.  Turn our fears into prayers instead, and our anxieties into compassion.  Stay safe, and thank you.

With mettā,

The “Covid-19 Emergency Response Team”
of the Executive Committee,
Nalanda Buddhist Society Malaysia.
