For those of who regularly volunteer on Saturdays in Wisdom Park, their weekends are very different nowadays under the Covid-19 lockdown. Everyone will have to wait a while longer to enjoy the great outdoors there with fresh air, lush greenery and beautiful flowering shrubs.
Saturdays used to be gatherings of nature-lovers and hard-working gardeners labouring joyfully under the sun and rain. Nicknamed the “green warriors”, our volunteers have to date planted almost 900 trees and thousands of shrubs in Wisdom Park. Over the months, they have also forged close camaraderie and friendship while working harmoniously together.
Although it is impossible for volunteers to plant trees in Wisdom Park during this lockdown period, the volunteer gardeners are nevertheless preparing well for the opportunity when they can go there again. The K. Sri Dhammananda Centre in Sri Serdang has been turned into a temporary nursery with many types of plants currently being propagated. The shrubs will be transferred to Wisdom Park for planting soon.
Let us thank these wonderful “green warriors” and rejoice over their untiring efforts to green and beautify the Wisdom Park campus. We wish them good health and safety always. Sadhu anumodana!
