After the Buddha’s Enlightenment on the full-moon day of Vesakhā month (in May), He contemplated on the Dhamma for forty-nine days in the vicinity of the Bodhi Tree. He then walked for another seven days from Uruvela to the deer park near Sarnath, where He preached the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta on Asalha Day, the full-moon in July, to His first five disciples.
It is during this same period that Nalanda members observe the ‘Gimhāna Retreat’ annually with thematic Dhamma learning and practice. Join us every Sunday from 17 May to Asalha month full-moon day on 5 July to learn the Dhamma through progressive lessons on-line.
The theme for this year’s retreat is “Tranquility in the face of Uncertainty”. And to attain that tranquility, let us practise the Noble Eightfold factors namely Right View, Right Thoughts, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. We will be discussing each of these 8 factors every Sunday.
Once again, Nalanda members look forward to the annual ‘Gimhāna Retreat’, especially during these uncertain times. We wish that all beings be free from suffering!
