The strength of our mental health determines if we can weather the storms of life.
With over a quarter of a million new cases being reported daily around the world, the Covid-19 pandemic is still a far cry from passing. In Malaysia, new clusters in the North and opposite the Peninsular has seen a dramatic surge of new cases over the past week causing many people to worry and be anxious over how the days ahead may unfold.
In these uncertain times, one of the most important things we need to take care of are our minds. Consider this pandemic like a storm that we cannot prevent from leaving a path of destruction in its wake; the only thing we can prevent the storm from destroying is the calmness and serenity of our minds. It is of the nature of storms to appear and wreak havoc upon earth, yet it is also of the nature to one day disappear and allow the sun to shine again. Understanding and accepting this reality of life, we can maintain calmness and serenity in our minds, and perform our duties accordingly.
Tranquillity in the face of uncertainty should also be paired with vigilance. Out of compassion for our family, community and nation, we must continue to maintain good hygiene, avoid crowded places, wear face masks, and uphold physical distancing in public. Let us continue to share merits and have thoughts of loving-kindness for all those affected by this pandemic. May those who perished be at Peace.
