Let us continue to stay united in facing today’s challenges so that we also grow stronger together.

Today, on 31 August 2021, Malaysians celebrate the 64th anniversary of our nation’s independence, marking another year of unrelenting patience and perseverance.  We have not only put on hold our desires and fancies as a means of safeguarding our communities, we have also made sacrifices due to our care, respect and compassion for our fellow countrymen.

While many have stepped forth to help neighbours and friends alleviate their distress, many more have gone beyond the call of duty as front-liners in this war against an unseen enemy.  In the midst of this challenge which has yet abated, we have also had to face even more uncertainty economically and politically; but Malaysians have proved that we do not breed calamity.  Instead, we keep calm and take measured steps with courage and hope.

The surety of a brighter future rests on the collective hope and aspiration of each and every one of us Malaysians.  Let us all stay united behind our country’s founding ideals, and strengthen our will to progress as one people and one nation.  Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke-64.  Dirgahayu Malaysia!
