Uniting towards a Buddhist missionary at Members’ Convention

An uplifting gathering of Nalanda members.

Just a few days ago from 9 to 11 December, over 90 Nalanda members from Serdang and all three branches gathered at Wisdom Park for the 9th Nalanda National Members’ Convention.  In these 3 days of learning and training, members better aligned to the Society’s direction of progressing towards a Buddhist missionary.

To embody this selfless spirit, we must be clear in our motivations in order to develop a personal affinity to the mission and the inner strength to persevere.  Established in clarity of mission, members also deepened their understanding of the factors which effect personal transformation and enhance organisational development, both of which are critical factors to cultivate a strong Buddhist missionary spirit.

Commencing the convention with offerings to the Three Jewels.

Observing the Three Refuges and Five Precepts.

Sis. Nandinī kicked off the session with revisiting Nalanda’s mission and core principles.

Sis. Buddhinī gave an overview of the challenges the Buddhist community faces and what Nalanda’s direction is to address this.

Questions and sharing of perspectives from members.

Sis. Santī shared how members can transform themselves personally in order to positively influence others in the Dhamma.

All of us who have benefitted from the Buddha’s teachings preserved for over 26 centuries by countless beings, aspire to prolong the Sāsana for the benefit of many more in the future.  We thank the Organising Committee, members and volunteers for their efforts and support in rejuvenating our spiritual vigour and committing to this noble endeavour.
