Cultivating generosity from within

Cultivating generosity from within

This programmes offers an opportunity for the community to support the monastics.

On Saturday 18 May, Nalanda members and volunteers gathered early in the morning to mobilise the Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) at Bazar Rakyat.  Just as early were market-goers and vendors who look forward to this monthly event which is an avenue for them to give and support monastics even as they go about their daily chores and work.

Giving is made a more meritorious deed when we sincerely adopt the right mindset when we make offerings to others.  We need to put thought into giving items which are useful and beneficial to the recipient.  Furthermore, we hone our minds to give with gladness and sincerity whilst wishing them to be well and happy.  Having given with much joy, we do not carry expectations of lofty rewards and instead just rejoice in this deed.

We take this opportunity to thank all members and volunteers who have been joyfully working together in various facets such as organising the programme, attending to the monks, engaging the community and serving lunch dāna.  In their efforts, they have themselves cultivated generosity in offering their service, time and efforts for the benefit of others.  Sadhu anumodana.
