Leadership exchange on engaging volunteers with BUBS

We thank everyone for a useful exchange.

On Sunday 12 January, Nalanda leaders welcomed Bandar Utama Buddhist Society’s President Bro. John Lee and their core leaders for a learning exchange on how to recruit, manage and engage volunteers who are crucial in spiritual organisations. Nalanda President Sis. Buddhini Tan led the exchange together with the Secretariat, Volunteer Management and Training & Enhancement Team.

The group shared each Society’s current practices, and how they have evolved through time in response to the needs of the community and Dhamma programmes. Sis. Lim Siew Kim who leads the Nalanda Volunteer Centre related the importance of ensuring that volunteers are not only equipped to carry out their roles but to also take care of their welfare and ensure that they feel valued and appreciated throughout their service. The group also discussed formal and informal training programmes crafted specifically to nurture Buddhist volunteers to serve the Society and beyond.

The leaders also discussed challenges faced.

Bro John Lee, President of BUBS, on behalf of the group, thanked Nalanda leaders for their time and willingness to share freely the knowledge and ideas which will be helpful for implementation in BUBS.

Leaders sharing pertinent issues faced in the community.

We truly appreciate and rejoice to have liked-minded Buddhist leaders sharing and learning from each other. May Buddhist leaders grow to inspire more Buddhist volunteers on this path of prolonging the Buddha-Sāsana.
