Joyful beginning for Family Dhamma School JB

Joyful and meaningful learning on the first day of Dhamma School!

On 22 February, Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch warmly welcomed over 40 returning students and new families to the first 2025 class of Family Dhamma School. The session began with a meaningful offering and communal chanting. To ‘break-the-ice’ everyone joined activities which fostered connections, familiarity and a sense of community.

The highlight of the session was an inspiring Dhamma sharing by Sis. See Hui Shien, the Director of Nalanda Dhamma School Director, on the purpose of Dhamma learning. She emphasised that Dhamma education goes beyond knowledge — it nurtures virtues, mindfulness, and personal growth, leading to true transformation.

Parents and children joined communal chanting to pay homage to the Buddha, take refuge in the Three Jewels, and observe the five precepts.

Families also set their aspirations for the year, reflecting on personal growth, kindness, and service. The written aspirations were placed in an aspiration box, symbolising unity and a shared vision within the family. We look forward to welcoming the families back for the upcoming sessions and more enriching moments together. Sadhu anumodana.
