‘Happy Young Adults’ explores adapting to change

Exploring the topic of change is part of our journey to become more resilient.

On Tuesday 8 April, the Happy Young Adults participants came together at NEO Centre KL in Happy Garden to learn with Sis. See Hui Shien on the topic of ‘Adapting to change and being agile’.  The first step is to adjust our attitude to know and accept that impermanence and change is a part of life change.  And when we face the eight worldly winds of gain & loss, fame & ill fame, praise & blame, pleasure & pain, we should hone ourselves to be unattached to changing circumstances and maintain equanimity to be emotionally stable.

Change can be viewed as a training ground to improve and upskill ourselves, instead of a threat. Sis. Hui Shien then led the group to consider how to apply Right Effort at the workplace, by continuously learning and adopting a growth mindset needed for the rapidly changing world that requires versatility in skillsets.

The session begins with meditation and chanting.

Sis. Hui Shien also encourage the group to develop mindfulness so that we can respond appropriately to situations instead of reacting.

Discussions and comparing notes to deepen their learning.

Sharing group discussions with the larger group.

Sis. Amanda Chen hosted the session.

Sis. Loh Pei Qi shares her perspective on change.

It is important for us to contribute towards an environment where people can adapt to change by leading with compassion and paying attention to the need of others as well as support them  through transitions.  Our gratitude to Sis. Hui Shien for her guidance, and we look forward to welcoming the group back to NEO Centre KL tomorrow Tuesday 15 April to learn with Datuk Charlie Chia.
