On Saturday, 7 September, Nalandian volunteers and devotees gathered at the NEO Centre in Happy Garden for the morning invocation and puja before the monthly Pindacāra. Upon completion of the alms-round at the Taman O.U.G. morning market, we headed back to NEO Centre for a Dhamma sharing by the Director of Nalanda Dharma School Sis. Sunanda Ong.
She quoted Dhammapada verse 18 and went on to share about the four kinds of attachments that prevent us from enjoying the goodness of spirituality, based on Majjhima Nikaya Sutta 11. They are:
• Clinging to sensual pleasures
• Clinging to views
• Clinging to rituals and superstitions
• Clinging to belief of ‘self’
After the Dhamma sharing, devotees participated joyfully in the Sanghika Dana. Surplus food were packed and distributed to nearby old folks’ homes and orphanages. It was a delightful and meaningful morning indeed!
