Several senior Nalanda officers led by Deputy President Bro. Lee Teck Beng, arrived at Sungai Petani on 14 September for a brief visit to familiarize themselves with Kedahan Buddhist communities. Besides Bro. Lee, the other officers include Honorary Treasurer Sis. May Wong, Assistant Secretary Sis. Mudita Chan, Manager Sis. Joyce Lim, KL Branch Pro-tem Chairman Bro. Eugene Yong, and KL Branch Assistant Secretary Sis. Ng Tung Yan.
Upon arrival the officers were warmly received by Sungai Petani Branch Pro-tem Chairman Bro. Khaw Seng Giap. The group proceeded to visit the proposed site of NEO Centre Sungai Petani, which has just been acquired by the Society. The property will be managed by the local Nalanda Branch Committee, who intends to redevelop it into a 2-3 storey, well-equipped centre for Dhamma-studies serving the Northern Region.
On 15 September, everyone will participate in a study tour to the Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum and excavation site, specially guided by Bro. H S Tan. Joining in the study tour will be 22 youths from Nalanda and 30 other participants from 4 local Buddhist Societies and 2 neighbouring universities.
