Ajahn Kusalo visits Nalanda

Ajahn Kusalo visits Nalanda

We thank Ajahn Kusalo for taking time to come and visit us as Nalanda.

On Saturday 17 December,  Nalanda Centre was honoured to host Venerable Ajahn Kusalo for a Dhamma talk.  Ajahn expounded on the pursuit of happiness, a common goal for most people.  In this developing world, it is easy to fulfill our pleasures and desires but we often find that we only experience a fleeting happiness.

The pursuit of real happiness starts within our own hearts and minds.  Instead of constantly wanting more, we can have more gratitude for what we already have.  We can also develop ourselves to be more accepting of that which are unpleasant instead of always wanting to be rid of it.  When we have acceptance for things as they are, peace will grow in our heart.

Devotees welcomed Ajahn Kusalo to the Shrine Hall with respect and gratitude.

Bro. Ajit introduced Ajahn and together invited him to give a Dhamma talk.

Ajahn Kusalo advised that we should see things as they are, instead of carrying our own perception of what we experience.

Ajahn advised devotees that we should not stress over high expectations for ourselves, such as never saying anything unwholesome.   We can instead acknowledge that we are less than perfect, and strive gradually to lay a firm foundation in Dhamma for us to grow spiritually.  We thank Ajahn Kusalo for visiting us and wish him the best of health and peace.

Devotees were grateful for the opportunity to offer meal dana to Ajahn.

Ajahn lead the congregation in the sharing of merits.

Devotees joyfully continued to learn from Ajahn Kusalo, having the opportunity to ask him more questions after lunch.

Bro. Charlie Teng brought Ajahn on a building tour. The last time Ajahn had visited the Centre was in 2011 before the expansion.

Youth leaders were also grateful to Ajahn for visiting the Youth Centre and having a short Dhamma chat.

We hope that Ajahn Kusalo will come to visit us at Nalanda again.
