Yesterday was another dark episode for humanity. Suicide bombers opened fire and detonated themselves at the crowded Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, killing at least 41 people and injuring more than 230.
The aim of terrorists is to disrupt our normal lives as much as possible, and to rain chaos and cause insecurity in the world. They want to provoke others into hating them, and then use that as further justification for their dastardly criminal act. If we give in to hatred, we will fall neatly into their insidious trap.
Hate speech and hateful thoughts are best kept away now. Instead let us stand in solidarity with the people of Istanbul in their hour of distress. Through hardship and pain, the world shall overcome those radical terrorists one day – but not by fighting fire with fire, nor hatred with more hatred.
Let us pray that those who perished in the Istanbul bombing be laid to rest in Peace, and may the injured quickly recover. May the loved ones of the victims stay strong through this dreadful ordeal. We stand in solidarity with the citizens of Istanbul and Turkey!
