Tomorrow (6 October) marks the first anniversary of the launching of K. Sri Dhammananda Centre in Sri Serdang. The past 12 months have seen the Centre fully utilised for Dhamma camps, meditation retreats, and currently, as the premise for the Adult Dhamma School every Sunday.

Sunanda on ‘Meaningful Friendship’. Through experiential activities, participants learned about the qualities of a true friend, as preached by the Buddha in the Mitta Sutta (AN7.35).

Modesty is the outward sign of a truly humble person, who lives a simple life, without the need for status or the urge to be higher than others. Pride, conceit and arrogance are the opposites of these qualities. These unwholesome traits trap people in prisons of their own creation, and prevent them from progressing on the Noble Eightfold Path.

This year’s fair was the largest one ever held by the J.B. Branch, with 85 stalls offering a range of food, household items and games. Fair-goers were treated to performances by Dhamma School students and talented devotees, and visited exhibitions on the educational and community programmes.
