On Sunday 8 November, Venerable Thich Thai Hoa, Venerable Thich Phuoc Can and Venerable Thich Tu Niem from Vietnam visited Nalanda Centre. They were greeted by Nalanda Buddhist Society President Sis. Evelyn Chow and other senior Nalanda officers who gave the venerables a tour of the building.

Read moreTwenty-four Nalanda Dhamma School students at NEO Centre Johor Bahru sat for their year-end examination on Sunday 15 November. The teenagers, aged between 13 to 17 years, had been attending Dhamma classes throughout the year. It was wonderful to see the students so well-behaved and eager to sit for the exam. They were tested on their basic understanding of Buddhism. Dhamma School Director Sis. Sunanda was at NEO Centre to help oversee the smooth running of the examination.
Read moreOn Saturday 14 November, several Nalanda youths took it upon themselves to give the Nalanda Youth Centre a facelift. The centre is a lively and ‘happening’ place. It is well used by about 340 Free School students for their tuition classes on weekdays and by Nalanda youths for their activities during the weekends. With so much going on, the premises was beginning to show signs of wear and tear. So to keep up its maintenance, several youths volunteered to give it a fresh coat of paint and some minor touch-up.

Land survey there, which began in late August, was completed in October. A ‘Master Development Plan’ for Wisdom Park is being drafted by the specially-appointed Development Committee comprising 11 members – 4 professionals, 4 representatives of the Buddhist community, and 3 Nalanda Buddhist Society officers.

Sunanda Ong conducted a Dhamma workshop for members of Nottingham University Buddhist Society, Semenyih, in conjunction with its 6th anniversary. Sis. Sunanda spoke about positive transformation, highlighting the fact that true transformation can only come about when education is accompanied by cultivation. She impressed upon the students the importance of putting their Dhamma knowledge into practice if they wanted to see tangible results in their lives.

Read more‘Sangha Day’ was celebrated at Nalanda Centre today to honour the virtues and contributions of monks and nuns who strive diligently to bring Buddha’s teaching to the many. As part of our effort to support the Sangha and strengthen the Buddha-Sāsana, a parcel of land has been set aside at Wisdom Park to build a monastery in the future. That portion of land is located at the far end of the park, suitably secluded, and surrounded by forest reserve with a lovely stream flowing through.
