Johor Sultan meets religious leaders

On Wednesday 13 January, Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar met with leaders of 16 non-Muslim religious groups from the state at his palace in Johor Bahru.  At the meeting in Istana Bukit Serene, the Sultan asked the religious leaders about the development and welfare of their respective groups. Sultan Ibrahim also advised them to remain united and to respect one another’s beliefs.

Dhamma School year starts in J. B.

The Nalanda Dhamma School year began in Serdang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru centres simultaneously on Sunday, 3 January.  The Dhamma School in J.B. is catered for teenagers aged 13 to 17.  A total of 40 weekly sessions plus 3 special occasions are scheduled in the school calendar.

4th meeting of Wisdom Park Development Committee

On Sunday 3 January, the Wisdom Park Development Committee met for the 4th time to draft the master plan for the would-be education hub.  The engineering team presented their recommendations for earth works and roads based on the terrain and proposed land use.

Ven. Gunaratana arrives at Sri Serdang

Nalandians were overjoyed to receive Ven. Sri Pandita Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Māha Thero when he arrived at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang at 7.45pm yesterday evening.  Earlier, venerable had left NEO Centre Johor Bahru after staying there on Friday, 8 January.

Since its opening last month, the Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre in Sungai Petani has received many compliments for its simple elegance and pragmatic design.  The 4,300 square feet facility houses a Dhamma Teaching & Meditation Hall, a reference library, office, meeting room, two guest rooms, and a kitchen.

Nalanda Centre to host Ven. H. Gunaratana

We are very pleased to welcome Venerable Sri Pandita Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Māha Thero to Malaysia!  Ven. Gunaratana (fondly known as ‘Bhante G’ to many of his students) is a renowned Buddhist meditation teacher and the author of several influential works, such as the best-selling ‘Mindfulness in Plain English’.  He is held in high esteem in the Buddhist world as a scholar and practitioner.
