Borobudur – Gem of Buddhist Architecture

Built during the Srivijaya Period in the 9th Century C.E., Borobudur is one of the largest and most impressive Buddhist monuments in the world.  Its structure symbolizes the entire Buddhist cosmology comprising different realms of existence.  Thousands of sculptures and relief carvings chronicling the Buddha’s life adorn the enormous stupa, making it extremely rich in narratives.

Wesak Day at NEO Centre Happy Garden

Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ was celebrated with joy and spiritual fervour at Nalanda Education & Outreach (NEO) Centre Happy Garden on 3 May 2015.  Chairman Bro. Eugene Yong and other Committee Members were on hand to welcome devotees to the 4th Wesak Observance at Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch since its establishment.

‘Buddha Day’ celebrated at NEO Centre Johor Bahru

On Sunday 3 May, devotees and volunteers joyfully participated in the Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ programme with meditation to calm their minds, Pūja (offerings to the Three Jewels) and chanting.  First-time visitors were brought on a building tour of NEO Centre Johor Bahru, besides being introduced to the educational programmes and regular activities of the centre.

Dharma School students organise Remembrance

Following the advice of Nalanda President to dedicate merits to victims of the recent Sabah earthquake, Nalanda Dharma School students organized a special service yesterday (Monday, 8 June) in honour of those who died in the tragedy.  Also present at the remembrance service were Founder Bro. Tan, School Director Sis. Sunanda Ong, and several Nalandian officers.

Nalanda mourns the loss of Young Lives

Nalanda Buddhist Society members are deeply saddened by the loss of 18 lives in a recent earthquake which struck Mount Kinabalu, Sabah.  On behalf of the Society, Nalanda President Sis. Evelyn Chow expressed her deepest condolences and sympathies to the families and loved ones of those who died in the tragedy.

Dedication of merits to Victims of Misfortunes

At Nalanda Centre this morning, devotees gathered to dedicate merits to the casualties of two tragedies in the past week.  Nineteen people died in the earthquake which hit Mount Kinabalu in Sabah; and at least 406 were confirmed dead while dozens were still missing in the ferry tragedy in Hubei, China.

Thanking our Dhamma friends from Singapore

‘Buddha Day’ Pindacāra in Sri Serdang

In the early morning of Sunday 3 May (which was Wesak ‘Buddha Day’ in Malaysia), dozens of devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre and around Taman Sri Serdang to offer alms to venerable Sangha members on Pindacāra.  It was inspiring to see many people manifesting the spirit of ‘cāga’ (generosity) through wholesome acts of giving.
