Dhamma Session with Ajahn Karuniko

On Wednesday 19 February, we were delighted to have Ajahn Karuniko guiding us in meditation and to deliver a Dhamma talk on “Mindfulness”.  After the evening Pūja and chanting, Ajahn skillfully guided the devotees for an hour’s meditation.  After which, Ajahn shared about the importance and benefits of calming our minds through meditation.

Great fun learning Dhamma for NS Trainees

It was another fruitful outing for 54 National Service (NS) trainees who attended Service Sunday at Nalanda Centre on 16 February.  Their arrival was warmly greeted by Nalanda youths, who have for the past two months organised a series of interesting activities which aimed at sharing basic Dhamma knowledge with the trainees.

Induction Session for Parents

On Sunday 16 February, a ‘Svagatam ’ * induction programme was held for parents of new Nalanda Dharma School students registered for 2014. The 6-session programme aims to equip participants with the essential knowledge on living in accordance with the Dhamma, and also to provide an avenue for parents to share their thoughts and views.

Another fruitful session of “Dhamma Chat”

The ‘kalyana mitta’ graduates of BPS302 met for another fruitful session of “Dhamma Chat” on 15 February.  Following the long Lunar New Year celebrations and family reunions, the topic of discussion evolved around what constitute real “blessing” and “auspiciousness”.

Nalanda organised another Pindacāra programme at the Seri Kembangan morning market on Saturday, 15 February.  It was a joyful occasion witnessing members of the public taking turns to respectfully offer alms-food to venerable monks.

Today is Māgha Pūja Day

We welcome you to join us at Nalanda Centre in tonight’s Uposatha Pūja starting at 8pm. Today happens to be the religiously significant ‘Māgha Pūja ’ Day.  ‘Māgha ’ is the name of a month in the Buddhist calendar; hence ‘Māgha Pūja ’ is observed on the full-moon day of that month.

An Uplifting Service Sunday

On Sunday 9 February, Bro. Tan gave an uplifting Dhamma Talk on the Buddhist concept of filial-piety.  In Chinese philosophy and culture, filial-piety (孝道) is greatly valued and highly esteemed.  Ancient stories about filial children revering and caring for their parents are widely known and often repeated.

Workshop for Nalanda Masters of Ceremony

On Sunday 9 February, an in-house ‘Emceeing & Facilitating Skills’ training for Nalanda officers was held at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The training was conducted by Mr. T. P. Lim, a well-known TV host and emcee in Malaysia.  Also participating was Mr. Ryan Thoo, a young professional emcee, who shared his emceeing experience with Nalandians.
