24-hour Loving-kindness

On Saturday, 24 November 2012, Buddhists from all over Malaysia gathered at BMSM Samadhi Vihara, Shah Alam to chant and radiate metta (loving-kindness) for world peace, stability and harmony.  Organised by Aloka Foundation and Buddhist Missionary Society Malaysia (BMSM), this round-the-clock metta event was highlighted with a special “Illuminating the World with Metta” Lights Offering ceremony, symbolically illuminating the world with loving-kindness.

Recharged and Poised for 2013!

The world is our classroom! Vibrant and gleeful are the Nalanda Dharma School facilitators. As the end of the year approaches, a retreat was held from 13 – 15 November for Nalanda Dharma School facilitators.  The aim of this annual retreat is for the School’s facilitators to evaluate the progress of Nalanda Dharma School (NDS) in 2012, and develop the plan for 2013.

The Significance of Robes Offering

On Sunday, 11 November 2012, more than 100 devotees gathered at Nalanda Centre to participate in the auspicious annual Robes Offering Ceremony.  The Srivijaya Hall was packed to the brim; yet the air of peacefulness, devotion and concord was unmistakably present.   Seated together, devotees were united in their aspirations in supporting the Buddhist Sangha.

Together We Light up the World

On Deepavali, 13 November 2012, Nalandians warmly welcomed members of Firefly Mission, who came for a visit from Singapore.  The group of 74 people was very happy to be guided on a tour of Nalanda Centre, with many admiring the Centre’s unique Srivijayan interior design and its rich Buddhist symbolism.

Another fulfilling year – Nalanda Free School honours its teachers and students!

Established in June 2010, Nalanda Free School provides free academic tuition to needy Malaysian students aged 9 to 18.  With 42 volunteer tutors and an enrollment of 460 students, the Free School operates 30 classes in 2012 - 6 days a week at both Nalanda Centre in Serdang and NEO Centre in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur.

Sixth Monthly Pindacāra

Monks going on alms-round is gradually becoming a familiar scene at the Taman O.U.G. morning market. The day dawned calm and clear, beautiful weather for the monthly Pindacāra at Taman O.U.G. morning market.  We were privileged to host 38 devotees from Gandharama Vihara, Kuala Terengganu, who joined us on this meritorious occasion.

It was a privilege to host the devotees from Gandharama Vihara, Kuala Terengganu who visited Nalanda Centre on Friday, 2 November 2012. As they were guided on the building tour, the entourage of 38 people were impressed by the intuitive design and layout of the centre.
