Achieving Well-being in Our Lives

As Buddhists, we strive to attain balance and happiness in our lives.  Being well is ensuring our physical, mental and spiritual health.  The devotees who attended the Service Sunday yesterday were allocated into six groups, each to discuss about one of the Six Well-beings (namely Physical, Mental, Family, Economic, Interpersonal and Spiritual).   Then, a representative from each group presented on the key points.

National Maha Sanghikadana at Bodhi Park

7 & 8 July 2012 It was a truly grand sight at the National Maha Sanghikadana this weekend as the Malaysian Buddhist community came together to support the meaningful event.  Offering alms and participating in the Maha Sanghikadana strengthens the harmonious ties between the Sangha and lay devotees.  This is vital for the development of Buddhism in Malaysia.  Sadhu anumodana to all who donated, volunteered and participated in this auspicious occasion!

H. H. Phra Somdet Munivong Received with Great Reverence at KLIA

The arrival of His Holiness Phra Somdet Munivong, Member of the Sangha Supreme Council of Thailand, at KLIA on 5 July was received with great warmth and reverence by the Thai Buddhist community in Kuala Lumpur as well as by Malaysian devotees.  His Holiness is in Kuala Lumpur to preside over this weekend’s Buddha Relic Veneration and Enshrinement Ceremonies at the Buddhist Maha Vihara (on Saturday, 9.00am – 12.00pm) and at Wat Chetawan, Petaling Jaya (on Saturday 8.00pm – 9.30pm).

Lord Buddha’s Relics presented to Malaysian Buddhists

In January 1898, an archeological survey team led by Peppe were excavating near the present-day Indian-Nepali border at Piphrawa.  Peppe’s team discovered a ruined stupa, believed to be the site of ancient Kapilavatthu.  During the excavation, a sandstone box, which contained jewels, ornaments and small urns, was discovered among the ruins.

A Night of Rosy Fulfilment

Hundreds in the audience were captivated as we were taken on a journey depicting the life of Yao Lee, the original singer of the classic song "Rose, Rose, I Love You", last Saturday, 23 June 2012.  The fundraising musical was in aid of Nalanda Education & Development Fund, to help needy Malaysian students obtain holistic guidance and all-rounded education.

Social Harmony

Dhamma Talk by Ven. Dr. Karma Lekshe Tsomo It was a thought-provoking session as Ven. Dr. Karma Lekshe Tsomo shared on how Buddhists can be socially engaged and take up the universal responsibility of all Buddhists.  We were also motivated to dwell deeper in our meditation practice and cultivate the qualities of the Four Divine Abodes (Brahmaviharas), namely Compassion, Loving Kindness, Sympathetic Joy and Equanimity, in order to achieve personal and social harmony.  Anumodana!
