BPS 403 Convocation Ceremony

BPS 403 Convocation Ceremony

Congratulations to all graduates of BPS 403 for your dilligence in completing the course.

On Saturday 4 January, Nalanda Institute Malaysia held the Convocation Ceremony for graduates of BPS 403 – Higher Certificate in Buddhist Studies at Nalanda Centre.  66 participants completed the 5-month course which started in July 2019.  In the presence of their loved ones, the ceremony began with an ‘ovada’ or advice from the course lecturers.

Achariya Tan Siang Chye, the Director of Nalanda Institute recognised the fruits of the hard work put in by participants and encouraged them to pay it forward in service to Buddha-Sāsana.  Achariya Vijaya Samarawickrama, Chairman of Nalanda Education Team, remarked that he was impressed by the course work and assessment papers submitted.  He said that participants should go forward with commitment to study and practise the Dhamma to benefit the community.

Participants respectfully welcoming Achariyas at the start of the Ceremony.

Achariya Siang Chye said that graduates should take the word of the Buddha as far and wide as possible, just as the missionaries of King Asoka did.

Achariya Vijaya congratulating all 66 participants for graduating.

Bro. Robert Tee representing the graduates to thank the Course lecturers, officers and volunteers.

Achariyas advised that with Dhamma, happiness is no longer dependent on external conditions but can be found within.  When one applies right efforts to realise Dhamma, one becomes skilful in wholesome qualities and is able to draw on these qualities to live a meaningful life.

We rejoice in the achievements of all BPS 403 graduates and wish them continued progress in their spiritual path.  We also record our highest appreciation to all Dhamma teachers, benefactors, supporters and volunteers who have contributed to the success of this programme.  Sādhu anumodāna!

Graduates presenting ‘Guru-dakhina’ to Achariyas to thank the course lecturers for their effort, commitment and guidance.

Graduates with full attendance, are rewarded with a token of recognition.

Graduates also gathered to personally express their appreciation to Course lecturers.
