The Chinese Calligraphy Exhibition was officially launched at Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang yesterday, graced by the presence of honoured guests, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Kee Yong Wee, Adviser of Calligraphy Society of Malaysia, Datin Seri Kee-Mah Ming Yuet, Mr. Wong Ho, President of Calligraphy Society of Malaysia, and other distinguished calligrapher-members of the Society.
Following the opening speeches by Dato’ Seri Kee and Nalanda Founder, Bro. H S Tan, guests and visitors were officially invited to view the calligraphy exhibits. Many were amazed by the sheer poetry behind the artistry, and took the opportunity to admire the artwork up close, and reflect on the deeper meanings and philosophy of the Chinese characters. Mr. Wong Ho then gave a special talk on “How to appreciate Chinese Calligraphy”. Live demonstrations by invited calligraphers evoked much delight and awe from the audience.
Nalanda would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dato’ Seri Kee, Datin Seri Kee, Mr. Wong Ho, and all distinguished calligraphers for their dedication and support in making this exhibition a meaningful and successful one! Proceeds from the sales of artwork will be channeled to produce a special documentary on Buddhism – “A Journey of Self Discovery” – chronicling a truth-seeker’s journey through India and his realisation of the Buddha’s true teachings.
The Calligraphy Exhibition will run from 27 to 29 September (Friday-Sunday), from 10am to 8pm daily. We welcome everyone to visit and admire the artwork by some of the finest calligraphers in Malaysia!
