On Sunday 1 March, members of Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch gathered joyfully for their 13th Annual General Meeting at NEO Centre, Johor Bahru — coinciding delightfully with the 13th day of Chinese New Year! The meeting was attended by 24 out of 39 JB Branch Members, along with Nalanda representatives President Sis. Buddhinī Tan and Assistant Treasurer Sis. Loh Pei Qi.

On Saturday 28 February, members of Nalanda Sungai Petani (SP) Branch gathered for their 13th Annual General Meeting at NEO Centre SP. The meeting was also attended by Nalanda Honorary Secretary Sis. Livin Leow, the Branch Coordinator Sis. Evelyn Chow, and Sis. Wee Hwe Shean. In this re-election year, Dr. Song Wai Leng re-assumed his role as Branch Chairman.

The bustling markets were filled with festive cheer as the community prepared to welcome the Chinese New Year. Many marketgoers and stall operators came ready to offer alms to the Sangha members.

Nalanda study tour fosters Dhamma fellowship in Gurun

On Sunday 1 February 2026, a group of 43 Nalanda members and devotees who were on the study tour to Bujang Valley visited the Gurun Buddhist Association in Kedah.  Nestled at the foothills of Gunung Jerai, the association warmly received the group, led by President Bro. Tan King Leong, Deputy President Bro. Heng Meng Huan, and their dedicated team members.

A Joyful Beginning for Nalanda Dhamma School 2026

The new Dhamma School year began on a wholesome note as Nalanda Dhamma School sessions commenced across Sri Serdang, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru over the weekend. On Sunday 18 January, the first sessions of Nalanda Teenage and Junior Dhamma Schools and the Parents Induction Programme (PIP) were held at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang. The first session set a calm and purposeful tone for the year, reminding students that Dhamma learning is a gradual and meaningful process that supports character development, mindfulness, and wise living in daily life.

Welcoming the New Year with the joy of giving and reverence

Starting the New Year on a wholesome note, Nalanda KL Branch members and volunteers hosted the inaugural monthly Pindacāra at the OUG and Happy Garden morning markets last Saturday, 3 January 2026. Even more significant was having a bhikkhuni to lead the Pindacāra! As Ven. Ayya Sanghamitta walked mindfully on alms round, her serene presence inspired devotees and marketgoers alike to joyfully come forward with offerings, creating a beautiful atmosphere filled with faith, generosity, and reverence.

The gift of giving at Pindacāra

In the Anggutara Nikaya, it was recorded that the Buddha taught – “There are these five gifts of a true person.  What five? They give a gift out of faith.  They give a gift carefully. They give a gift at the right time.  They give a gift with no strings attached.  They give a gift without damaging themselves or others.”
