‘Mettā Bhāvanā’ continues at NEO Centre KL

On Thursday 4 September, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch welcomed its members to the second session of the 7-week ‘Mettā Bhāvanā’ meditation course.  During group sitting, participants were skilfully guided by Bro. Tan, who reiterated that Mettā meditation is one of the antidotes to the three ‘mental poisons’ of greed, hatred and delusion.  Eliminating these three poisons will end suffering and lead to liberation from misery.

‘Mettā Bhāvanā’ Course at NEO Centre KL

On Thursday 28 August, the first session of the seven-week ‘Mettā Bhāvanā’ Meditation Course commenced at NEO Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan was at the Kuala Lumpur Branch to conduct the guided meditation session, which started at 8pm.

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Leaders’ Visit

Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch Management Committee members Bro. Goo Chu Lai and Bro. Fong Chee Meng made a short visit to Nalanda Centre on Friday, 12 September.  Joining them were Sis. Ong Yen See, who is the member in charge of ticketing sales for the branch’s upcoming charity concert, and Bro. Chiam, a youth leader at Kedah Buddhist Association.

SP Branch members offer Sanghika Dāna

On Saturday 30 August, many Nalanda Sungai Petani Branch members gathered at Mr. Khaw Kheng Hooi’s orchard in Gurun to offer Sanghika Dāna.  The gathering was also a timely one in view of the SP Branch’s upcoming event – a fund-raising concert scheduled on 18 October 2014.

KL Team contributes to ‘Family Fun Fair’

This year’s Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ held over 23-24 August was a whole new level of experience for members of Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch.  Since the planning stage of this event, our KL Team members had been fully integrated into the Organising Committee, working alongside and receiving valuable guidance from our experienced colleagues from Sri Serdang headquarters.

Nalanda JB Team at ‘Family Fun Fair’

Over the weekend on 23-24 August, 25 volunteers from Nalanda Johor Bahru Branch went to Sri Serdang to support the Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ – the Society’s largest annual fund-raising event.  Funds raised at the Fair go towards the on-going Nalanda Centre Building Expansion Project and to support educational programmes of Nalanda Institute, Dharma School, and Free School.

Joyful ‘Pindacāra’ in Sri Petaling and Happy Garden

On Saturday, 2 August, devotees and volunteers participated joyfully in the monthly ‘Pindacāra’ (monks going on alms-round) Programme at the Sri Petaling and Happy Garden morning markets.  We were honoured by the presence of two senior venerables from Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple Sentul, to participate in this alms-round.

Teachers’ Day Celebration in Johor Bahru

On Saturday 19 July, teachers and students of Nalanda Free School Johor Bahru Branch celebrated “Teachers’ Day” at NEO Centre JB.  Since its inception, teachers, students and their parents formed a firm rapport, encouraged by the active participation of all parties.  Teachers and parents are well aware of the roles they play in guiding students to experience holistic education, where good values and refined culture are instilled.

Parents-Facilitators’ Meeting at NEO Centre KL

On Sunday 20 July, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch Junior Dharma School held a fruitful parents-facilitators’ meeting.  This first formal meeting between the parents and facilitators of Nalanda Junior Dharma School (JDS) aimed at achieving better understanding of the School’s unique educational philosophy.  It also intended to update parents on their children’s progress over the past six months.
