Happy ‘Chap Goh Meh’

Friday 2 March marks the celebration of “Chap Goh Meh” – the 15th and last day of Chinese New Year festivities.  It is a traditional day for family members and friends to gather and wish each other blessings for the rest of the year.  Nalanda wishes everyone a joyful and meaningful celebration with much goodwill and generosity.  Happy “Chap Goh Meh”!

Warm welcome for Indian youths

Nalanda Centre warmly welcomed two groups of Buddhist Youth leaders from India, with a party of eight from Maharashtra arriving last night, and another group of eleven Ladakhis arriving this morning.  Svagatam!  Welcome to Malaysia.

Youth Leaders’ Training Programme

From 27 February to 7 March 2018, Nalanda Buddhist Society will host the inaugural “Indian Buddhist Youth Leaders’ Training Programme” in Sri Serdang and Kuala Lumpur.  Nalanda is undertaking this important project in partnership with several Buddhist organizations in India as part of our long-term vision to propagate Buddha-Dhamma in its land of origin, and to revitalize the proper learning and practice of Buddhism there.

Dhamma School construction progressing smoothly

Nalanda is building the ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ for holistic community education, especially to cater for the expansion of Nalanda Dhamma School.  Construction is progressing well, and work is estimated to be 50% completed as of today.

Extraordinary General Meeting

Nalanda Buddhist Society members based in Sri Serdang had a successful Extraordinary General Meeting (E.G.M.) on Saturday, 11 November.  The E.G.M. was called by the Board of Management to propose amendments to the Society’s Constitution.  During the meeting, the Board also sought members’ endorsement to purchase a van for the use of Dhamma School students and for outreach programmes.

Dhamma teaching by Ajahn Jayasaro

Friday 10 November marked another auspicious evening for Nalanda devotees as world-renowned Dhamma teacher, Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro, graced Nalanda Centre to share his words of wisdom.  Faith and enthusiasm to learn Dhamma was clearly evident in many devotees as the Teaching Hall was packed to the brim despite the heavy evening downpour.

Nalanda Centre closed for holiday

Nalanda Centre in Sri Serdang will be closed from 13 to 20 February in conjunction with Lunar New Year celebrations.  The Centre will reopen as usual on Wednesday, 21 February at 10.00am.  We wish everyone a happy and blessed New Year!  May you have a joyful and meaningful time bonding with your family, relatives and friends.  新年快乐,万事如意!
