Construction of ‘KSDC’ on schedule

Construction of the ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ (KSDC), which started in September 2017, is progressing well on schedule.  The contractors have finished piling works, ground beams, and casting the ground-floor slab.  We are blessed with the best weather in Sri Serdang, which helps greatly with structural work.

Nalanda teams embark on Dhammaduta

Two teams of Nalandians comprising Dhamma School Director Sis. Sunanda, EXCO member Sis. Buddhini, Dhamma School facilitators and senior students gathered for chanting at Nalanda Centre before departing for Dhammaduta trips to Kedah and Kelantan.

Nalanda Centre will be hosting renowned and inspiring Dhamma teacher, Ven. Thubten Chodron, on her upcoming visit to Malaysia.  Ven. Thubten Chodron is the Founder and Abbess of Sravasti Abbey – a Tibetan Buddhist monastery for monks and nuns in America.

Nalanda youths leave for pilgrimage

Early in the morning of Tuesday 21 November, 40 Buddhist youths left Kuala Lumpur International Airport to begin a two-week ‘Dhammayatra’ (pilgrimage) to India and Nepal.  Led by Nalanda founder Bro. Tan, everyone embarked on this spiritual journey with joyful thoughts and motivation.

Malaysians work longer hours but are less productive

According to Malaysia’s leading English daily ‘The Star’, Malaysians work an average of 15 hours more than their contracted hours each week, surpassing workers in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia.  However, Malaysians suffer from a high percentage of productivity loss, i.e. local workers are far less productive than their regional counterparts.

Blessing ceremony at construction site

On Sunday 29 October, Nalandians requested blessings from venerable Sangha members to begin piling work at the site of ‘K. Sri Dhammananda Centre’ in Sri Serdang.  The slight afternoon drizzle did not hamper the blessing ceremony on site; instead it cooled the air and added to the solemnity of the occasion.
