Visitors to Nalanda Photography Exhibition

In the past few days, the “Passage through India” special photography exhibition which is on-going at Nalanda Centre continues to draw groups of visitors.  On 11 May, Ven. Sing Kan, the Abbess of Sam Poh Tong Temple in Ampang, came visiting with Ven. Pu Yi from Japan, as well as her two devotees.

Nepal shaken by another strong Earthquake

3 weeks after the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake that killed more than 8,000 people, Nepal was again stricken by another powerful 7.3 earthquake today.  The epicenter of the quake was 83 km from Kathmandu, near to Namche Bazar and Mount Everest.  The earthquake was strong enough to be felt in the Indian capital New Delhi and Bangladeshi capital Dhaka.

Interfaith Dialogue at UPM, Serdang

On Friday 24 April, Nalanda Founder Bro. Tan was invited to speak at an Interfaith Dialogue organized by the Muslim Students Association of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Serdang.  The theme of the dialogue was, “Can religion achieve Peace and Happiness?”

7-week Annual Gimhāna Retreat begins 17 May

For the fourth consecutive year, Nalanda will hold its 7-week Annual Gimhāna Retreat from 17 May to 1 July.  Gimhāna Retreat focuses on one’s spiritual growth and personal transformation effected through the Dhamma.  During this period, everyone is encouraged to commit to 7 weeks of intensive Dhamma learning and spiritual cultivation.  Dhamma teachings and meditation sessions are arranged at Nalanda Centre every Wednesday, Sunday and Uposatha (New-moon and Full-moon) Day.

“Passage through India” Exhibition Launched

On Friday 1 May, the much-anticipated “Passage through India” special photography exhibition was launched in a joyful atmosphere at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  The launching was jointly performed by the Producer of ‘Dhammayatra’ Project Datin Seri Kee-Mah Ming Yuet, and Mdm. Serena Yong representing Hewlett-Packard (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the generous sponsor of the photograph printing.

Happy Mother’s Day

As we celebrate Mother’s Day tomorrow, let us recollect with gratitude the love, compassion, kindness, acceptance, and unconditional sacrifice showered upon us by our mothers over the years.  They were there for us in times of need.  They were our first teachers; our protectors, motivators, and disciplinarians.  Without mothers, we would not be in this world.

Members’ Convention sets the Path Forward

On Friday 1 May, Nalanda Buddhist Society members from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Kedah branches came together to discuss the Society’s growth for the next five years in the 3rd National Members’ Convention, held at Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  Founder Bro. H S Tan presented an important lecture on ‘The Way Forward’, charting the path for Nalandians to advance personally and organisationally.

Mangala Lodge Altar Installed

Bro. Tan accompanied by several Nalandians spent 3 days from 17 to 19 April in Kampar, Perak, to help install the Buddha-Altar at Mangala Lodge.  The installation of the Altar was timed to coincide with the auspicious Wesak New-moon Uposatha Day.
