On Saturday 28 March, Nalanda is honoured with an invitation to participate in the 5th Berjaya Founder’s Day celebration at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. Berjaya Founder’s Day is an annual celebration of philanthropy, volunteerism and community service. It is held in conjunction with the birthday of Berjaya Group’s founder, Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

Founder of Nalanda Bro. Tan invited the venerable monks to accept the ‘room offering’ for the use of visiting Sangha members. Ajahn Sumedho graciously accepted the invitation and became the first person to occupy the room.

The ill-fated Airbus A320 was en route from Barcelona, Spain to Dusseldorf, Germany when it crashed in the French Alps. This morning I woke up to the sad news of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s passing. Although he had been unwell and hospitalized since February, with his frail condition and declining health seemingly irreparable, yet, the broadcast of his death still tugged at my heart. Singapore woke up a grieving nation bereaved of her founding father; the world has lost another legendary statesman.
