Nalanda Centre reopens today

Dear friends, we are pleased to inform you that Nalanda Centre is reopened at 10.00 am today after the Lunar New Year holidays.  Normal activities at the Centre and Library will also resume, starting with tonight’s Group Meditation and Sutta Discussion at 8.30 pm.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at Nalanda Centre, soon!

‘Bodhi Pūja’ at Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul

On Tuesday 10 February, a team of Nalandians participated in a ‘Bodhi Pūja’ at the Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple, Sentul.  This special ‘Bodhi Pūja’ was offered in honour of Venerable Sri Pandit Henepola Gunaratana Nāyaka Thero, who underwent an eye surgery recently.

UTAR Buddhist Carnival 2015

From 10 – 12 February, Nalanda Buddhist Society participated in the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Buddhist Carnival held at its Sungai Long Campus, Kajang.  Enthusiastic Nalandians were at the campus early to set up an information booth and to lend their support to the Carnival.  They actively engaged with the UTAR students who streamed through the different exhibits and activities.

Memorable National Service Trainees’ Programme

On Sunday 8 February, Nalanda Youths hosted the last session of the National Service trainees’ Programme.  The session started at 2pm and prolonged for another hour till 6pm.  The National Service trainees enjoyed the session very much, especially the lively sharing by Bro. Aggaphala on “How to face challenges in Society”.  The trainees were motivated to face challenges and adversities in life with courage.

12 February marks the birth anniversary of English scientist Sir Charles Darwin – an eminent figure whose contributions to evolutionary thought had an enormous effect on many fields of science.  Since his passing in 1882, ‘Darwin Day’ has been observed to highlight his contribution to science, and to promote science in general.

Observing Uposatha Day meaningfully

On Tuesday 3 February, Nalandians returned ‘Home’ to Nalanda Centre Sri Serdang to spend a fruitful one-day meditation retreat in conjunction with the Thaipusam holiday.  It was a day to ‘let go’ of their busy routines and to practice being here and now.  Nalandians were striving diligently in their practice at the serenity of the Centre.
