Successful ‘Family Fun Fair’ 2014

The Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ was concluded successfully at 5pm on 24 August.  More than 6,000 patrons turned up to enjoy a fun day out with family and friends at Nalanda Centre.  The heavy downpour which came towards the end of the Fair did not dampen the high spirits and strong camaraderie as everyone was happy working selflessly and tirelessly towards a noble cause.

‘Family Fun Fair’ kicked off

The Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’ kicked off right on time at 9am on the morning of 24 August!  The field at Taman Sri Serdang in front of Nalanda Centre was a hub of activities with more than 1,000 lunch-time crowd sampling a huge variety of delicacies on offer.  The 160 stalls were doing brisk ‘business’ as many items on sale were quickly snapped up.  Despite its large scale, the atmosphere in the field felt like that of a friendly village market!

Final rallying for ‘Family Fun Fair’

Earnest and energetic organisers of Nalanda’s ‘Family Fun Fair’ held a few final rounds of meetings and briefings before the big day tomorrow.  The stage is set to welcome thousands of visitors to Sri Serdang for the largest ‘Fun Fair’ ever held here – with more than 160 stalls offering a wide range of delicacies, household items and merchandise.

Youthful support for ‘Family Fun Fair’

Throughout the past weeks, Nalandian youths have been working quietly to support the upcoming Nalanda ‘Family Fun Fair’.  The youths are very much at the forefront of this fund-raising event – volunteering to operate stalls, handle visitors, and arranging logistics. Many of them are in fact ‘veterans’ of the ‘Fun Fair’, having been involved in this annual event since their Nalanda Dharma School days.

Nalanda Centre Expansion Project – 100 days on!

Today marks the 100th day work began on the Nalanda Centre Expansion Project!  Work is progressing rapidly on the upper floors of the building, with plumbing and M&E components catching up.  With the current rate of construction, we are optimistic that the project can be completed on schedule in another 80 days.

Workshop on ‘Embracing the Beginner’s Mind’

On Sunday 10 August, Sis. K. C. Chiang, ‎an accountant-turned-clinical psychologist, conducted a workshop on ‘Embracing the Beginner’s Mind’ at Nalanda Centre.  A ‘beginner’s mind’ is an essential attribute for the cultivation of ‘Learning’, one of Nalanda’s Eight Core Values.
