Tomorrow is Buddha Day! – Ways to get to Nalanda Centre

We warmly welcome you to Nalanda Centre this week for Buddha Day programmes held from 21 to 26 May.  For friends taking the MRT Putrajaya line which covers areas from Kwasa Damansara, Kepong Baru, Jalan Ipoh, KLCC, to Putrajaya Sentral, alight at the UPM Station which is just 1 km or a 13-minute minute walk from Nalanda Centre.

Film screening & Director’s sharing –‘Dhammayatra’ 正觉之道

We invite you to come for a special screening of the documentary film ‘Dhammayatra – A Journey of Self-Discovery’ (Mandarin with English subtitles), on Friday 24 May 8pm. ‘Dhammayatra’ is a spiritual pilgrimage to retrace the path taken by our Enlightened Teacher 2,600 years ago, and to discover the timeless beauty and efficacy of His marvellous teachings.

Cultivating generosity from within

On Saturday 18 May, Nalanda members and volunteers gathered early in the morning to mobilise the Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) at Bazar Rakyat.  Just as early were market-goers and vendors who look forward to this monthly event which is an avenue for them to give and support monastics even as they go about their daily chores and work.

This year’s Buddha Day theme ‘Peace begins with Me’ provokes reflection on how our attitude and mindset determines outcomes and impact those around us.  At the upcoming ‘Young Working Adults Forum’, we will explore this theme to better understand how to cultivate this in ourselves so that we act responsibly at work and reduce situations leading to anger and conflict.

Heritage Procession

Come and join the iconic Heritage Procession on Wesak Full-moon Buddha Day, 22 May, at 7.30pm for a spiritual celebration of the Buddha’s Enlightenment.   The community gathers yearly for this tranquil and unique cultural experience where the Buddharupam is conveyed on a wooden sedan to the harmonious beat of drums and gongs, accompanied by beautifully hand-crafted paraphernalia.
