Happy Mother’s Day

“Just as a mother would protect her only child with her own life, even so, let him cultivate boundless thoughts of loving-kindness towards all beings”, such was the Buddha’s teaching as He expounded on ‘metta’, the ultimate sense of goodwill towards all beings.  Such is a mother’s love – unconditional and selfless.  She shapes our moral compass and teaches us right from wrong, so that we may be happy and live meaningful lives.

Buddha Day Heritage Procession & Dhamma talk by Ajahn Dton

We joyfully welcome you to join the iconic Heritage Procession, on Wesak Full-moon Buddha Day, 22 May, at 7.30pm.  In this unique cultural experience, the Buddharupam is conveyed on a wooden sedan to the harmonious beat of drums and gongs, accompanied by beautifully hand-crafted paraphernalia carried by traditionally-dressed devotees.

Joyful giving during Pindacāra

Last Saturday 4 May, the community at the O.U.G. and Happy Garden markets partook in the meritorious deed of giving in the monthly Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) programme.   Often on the look-out on the morning of the first Saturday of the month, market-goers and stall vendors prepared their offerings generously, with the sincere intention of doing good.

Celebrating 21st anniversary on Nalanda Day

On Wednesday 1 May, Nalanda Centre was a sea of grey as over 85 members gathered to celebrate the 21st anniversary of Nalanda Buddhist Society.  President, Sis. Buddhini Tan thanked all members for their support, highlighting that together, members have organised more than 30 impactful Dhamma educational programmes over the year-long commemoration of the Society’s 20-year milestone.
