Bountiful joy & gratitude at tea-ceremony

Nalanda Dhamma School marked the start of their 2024 year with a tea-ceremony on Sunday, 25 February.  The day started with communal chanting before forming individual learning groups – Bro. Tan Siang Chye delivered a talk on parenting based on the Buddha’s teachings, Bro. Disheng delivered a talk to the Youths on the duties of a child to their parents, while the Dhamma School conducted their sessions with the teenage and junior students.

Esteemed visit by Tan Chao Khun Samai on Māgha Pūja Day

On Saturday 24 February, Nalanda was honoured to host Venerable Tan Chao Khun Samai for an alms-round on our monthly Pindacara route at Taman OUG morning market, a Dhamma Chat in Nalanda Community Centre, and a tour of Nalanda Centre, Sri Serdang.  In just one day, Tan Chao Khun Samai made a mark on many members of the community through his teachings and benevolence in accepting offerings.

Māgha Pūja day

Today marks the historical occasion where the Buddha preached the ‘Ovada Patimokkha’ – the summary of His Teachings – at the famed Veluvana Monastery in Rājagaha more than 2,600 years ago.  The Buddha taught the spontaneous gathering of 1,250 Arahant bhikkhus the outline of Dhamma practice – “To abandon evil; cultivate virtues; and to purify one’s own mind”.

Hosting Gurun Buddhist Association at Wisdom Park

Last weekend, on the 18 to 19 February, we hosted 24 members and volunteers of Gurun Buddhist Association on their visit to Wisdom Park.  Led by their President Bro. Tan King Leong & Deputy Bro. Heng Meng Huan, the group consisted of the association’s Dhamma School teachers and their children, who were on route to Borobudor, Indonesia for a learning trip.

Pindacāra & Dhamma chat with Ven. Tan Chao Khun Samai

Join us this coming Saturday 24 February, on the full-moon day of the month Māgha, for a special programme with Phra Thepsilaporn, fondly known as Ven. Tan Chao Khun Samai.  We will start this auspicious day cultivating generosity in the morning pindacara led by Ven. Tan Chao Khun Samai at the O.U.G. market at 8.30am, and adjourn to Nalanda Book Café in Sri Petaling for a Dhamma chat.   You may bring along cooked food and fruits for offering.  All are welcome to join.

Nalanda Centre reopens today

Nalanda Centre, Youth Centre and Pustaka Nalanda in Sri Serdang reopens today after the week-long Lunar New Year celebrations.  Do join us for the first programme of the year this Sunday 18 February for the Morning Service which starts at 9am with meditation, chanting, and a Dhamma talk by Sis. Buddhini Tan.  Youths of ages 18 to 28 are invited to join the Youth Sunday Service.  We look forward to welcome you at Nalanda Centre!
