F.U.N. completes its run with blessings

The Fellowship Undergraduate Network (F.U.N.) programme completed its 6-session run on Saturday 18 November.  This specially planned programme for university students enabled participants to explore the theme of ‘Leading with Purpose’ and to cultivate leadership qualities for personal and professional success.

JB Free School Appreciation Night

On Monday 20 November, Nalanda Free School Johor Bahru teachers, students and parents gathered for the annual ‘Appreciation Night’.  Sis. Alice Yap, Coordinator of the Free School in JB hosted this joyful event to celebrate the progress of the students throughout the year, recognising improvements in their academic subjects, as well as values such as kindness and helpfulness.

Pindacāra & Dhamma talk by Ajahn Jayanto

We invite you to join us for Pindacāra (monks on alms-round) led by Ajahn Jayanto, on Saturday 2 December at the Taman O.U.G. (8.30am) and Happy Garden (9.30am) morning markets.  After the alms-round, we also invite you to join us for a Dhamma talk by Ajahn Jayanto, followed by offering of lunch dāna to the Sangha at NEO Centre, Happy Garden. You may bring along cooked vegetarian food and fruits to offer.  All are welcome!

Youth Exchange Programme inspires action

From 16 to 25 November, Nalanda hosted 10 specially selected youth leaders from Ladakh and 18 Malaysian youths in the 2nd Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme (YEP), a project undertaken by Nalanda in partnership with several Buddhist organisations in India with the aim of revitalising the proper learning and practice of Buddhism in its land of origin.

Each of us can play our role to preserve the Sāsana

On Sunday 19 November, Nalanda members and devotees came together to learn in the special Buddhist Leadership Forum organised in conjunction with the Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme (YEP).  Moderated by Sis. Sandy Lim, the congregation better understood  how we can each play our part in preserving the Buddha-Sāsana from renowned social reformist Ven. Sanghasena Mahathero, Datuk Charlie Chia and Sis. Santi Cheang.

Farewell & safe journeys to our Ladakhi friends

Earlier this morning, Ven. Sanghasena and participants of the Jambudvipa-Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) have set off for Singapore on the final leg of the exchange programme.  Nalanda leaders and youths bade a heartfelt farewell to our dear friends, with whom  strong bonds of friendship have emerged through 10 days of learning, reflection and camaraderie.

BPS 204 study tour to Bujang Valley

On the long holiday weekend of 11 to 13 November, Nalanda Institute Malaysia organised a special study tour for BPS204 - Intermediate-level Buddhist Studies in Mandarin participants to Bujang Valley, Kedah.  Participants from Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bharu and Sungai Petani explored the rich history of Buddhism in the north of the peninsula, led by Nalanda Institute Officer Sis. Sandy Lim.

Ven. Sanghasena leads pindacāra at O.U.G & Happy Garden

On Saturday 18 November, Nalanda Kuala Lumpur Branch was honoured to host Ven. Sanghasena for pindacāra (monks on alms-round) at the local morning markets.  Market-goers and vendors who were familiar with the monthly programme (held on the first Saturday of every month) joyfully offered requisites to the Sangha, with gratitude for the added opportunity to do good.
