Volunteer Briefing for Family Fun Fair

We invite all Family Fun Fair volunteers to attend the Volunteer Briefing tomorrow Sunday 1pm, at Nalanda Centre.  The briefing includes an introduction to the Family Fun Fair and a familiarisation of your roles with the team leads.  We thank you in advance for being a volunteer to serve the community and wish you happy service!

Care Bags make their way to welfare homes

In the past week, Nalanda members, youths and students have been working together to prepare for Nalanda Family Fun Fair, which is just a few weeks away on Sunday 13 August.  Particularly joyful is the preparation of ‘Care Bags’ and home-cooked meals for several welfare homes.

Memorable ‘Open Day’ at Wisdom Park

Three weeks after the ‘Open Day’, we recollect fondly the many memorable moments of welcoming and hosting the Buddhist community at Wisdom Park.  Volunteers and visitors were lightened with warm smiles and hearts as everyone shared and learned more about this campus dedicated to holistic Dhamma education for the benefit of the wider community.

First lecture of Intermediate-level Buddhist Studies BPS 204

BPS 204 – Intermediate-level Buddhist Studies in Mandarin commences this week at Nalanda Education & Outreach Centres in Happy Garden, Johor Bahru and Sungai Petani.  We warmly welcome registered participants for the first lecture at 2.30pm on Saturday, 29 July.  Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes earlier for registration.  We wish you a joyful learning session.

Hosting Ajahn Jayasaro with gratitude and appreciation

On 21 to 22 July, Nalanda members and volunteers were privileged to host Ven. Ajahn Jayasaro, during a short stopover in Kuala Lumpur, on his way to Medan, Indonesia.  Members warmly welcomed Ajahn back to Nalanda Centre, after his last visit before the pandemic began, in 2019.

Parents and children engaged in Dhamma learning together

The happiest times we recollect as a family are when we are involved in doing something wholesome and caring together.  At Nalanda Education & Outreach Centre in Happy Garden, students of Family Dhamma School gather on Sundays to do just that, accruing many days of joyful moments in the company of each other, facilitators and good spiritual friends.

Dhamma Talk in Mandarin by Ven. Prof KL Dhammajoti

We invite you to join us tomorrow, Monday 24 July, for a Dhamma teaching by Ven. Prof Dhammajoti, a Malaysian monk of Chinese descent, and one of the leading scholars on the Abhidhamma.  Ven. Dhammajoti graduated from the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka with a doctorate in philosophy.  His teaching career started in 1982 as a senior lecturer with the university and became a professor 10 years later.

Connecting hearts and minds at ‘Open Day’

At Wisdom Park’s ‘Open Day’ on 8 and 9 July, 100 Nalanda members and volunteers were privileged to welcome friends and fellow members of the Buddhist Community, and assist them in learning more about this integrated holistic educational campus.  With much gratitude in our hearts for their support, we were warmed by everyone’s zeal to make the Buddha’s teachings available to the community, having experienced its efficacy in making lives more meaningful.

Come and support Family Fun Fair pre-sales

Family Fun Fair is just a few weeks away, and the community at Nalanda is raring to go!  Dhamma School students, youths and devotees have come together to make available for the pre-sales, a variety of food, drinks, plants and daily use items.  We invite you to come and support the pre-sales this Sunday 23 July and the following Sundays up to the Fair itself on 13 August.

Buddhist community tours Wisdom Park on ‘Open Day’

On 8 to 9 July, Nalanda members and volunteers joyfully welcomed members of the Buddhist community to Wisdom Park on its first ‘Open Day’.  From small families to groups travelling in busses, volunteers gladly hosted Sangha members, Buddhist leaders, Dhamma speakers, benefactors, volunteers and devotees totaling more than 800 on guided tours throughout the two days.
